Daniel Ricciardo will start the Monaco Grand Prix from pole after dominating qualifying while Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen will line up at the back.
Red Bull could not repair Verstappen's car in time to get him out after a practice crash, leaving Ricciardo to blitz Mercedes and Ferrari.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel beat Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton to second.
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was fourth ahead of Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas as Force India's Esteban Ocon took sixth.
Red Bull have dominated the weekend so far and looked set to lock out the front row until Verstappen's costly error in final practice.
The Dutchman caught the inside wall at the second Swimming Pool chicane with his right front tyre and catapulted into the barriers on the outside.

The impact damaged both front and rear suspension on the right-hand side of the car and the damage was too extensive to be fixed in the two hours and 15 minutes between the end of practice and when he would have needed to get out to do a lap in first qualifying.
To add insult to injury, Verstappen has a five-place grid penalty for an unauthorised gearbox change because the team discovered a leak from a crack in the gearbox as they were preparing the car for qualifying, but it is academic as he will start from the back anyway.

One Red Bull driver always looked set for pole after Ricciardo set the pace in all the practice sessions leading up to qualifying, each time just pipping Verstappen.

</aside>After Verstappen ruled himself out, making an error for the sixth race in a row and raising questions about whether he needs to change his approach to his racing, Ricciardo was in a league of his own and was fastest in all three parts of qualifying.
His pole time of one minute 10.846 seconds came on his first run in the top-10 shootout and at the time was more than 0.4secs clear of anyone else, a huge margin. Vettel closed in on his final run to end the session 0.229secs adrift, and was 0.193secs ahead of Hamilton.

Monaco Investments:

These are my first posted F1 plays of the 2018 F1 Season.

Match-up:
5 units K. Magnussen +130 vs. R. Grosjean

Race Winner:
2 Units to Win S. Vettel (Ferrari) +275
1 Unit to Win L. Hamilton (Mercedes) +700

Magnussen and Grosjean are teammates for Haas. They were 19 and 18 respectively in qualifying out of a 20 car Field. the only reason they were not the last two was due to a crash Max Verstappen of Red Bull who otherwise would have qualified in the Top 3 most likey.

It is difficult to pass here, however with a team this bad it does not matter, especially being last in the Field as Verstappen will easily get by both drivers early.

Grosjean has yet to score a point for the season, while Magnussen has tallied 19 points. Magnussen in the better driver and wants to be the top dog and get a better ride. Neither driver will score points today so it is a battle of teammates. The better driver taking back a nice +130 tag.

As far as the wagers of Vettel and Hamilton for the win I mentioned it is difficult to pass, but not impossible. Ricciardo is a super talent but finds himself in the unusual position of being on the pole. Red Bull is still the third-best team in F1 behind Ferrari and Mercedes.

It is a bit of a misconception that passing is impossible at Monaco. Although not the case in the last decade, fewer than half of the races here have been won by the pole sitter. Suffice to say, I simply see great opportunity with Vettel or Hamilton today.

A decent result as Magnussen got around Grosjean early and stayed there. Somehow Ricciardo had power issues but held off Vettel and Hamilton.

Nice Result for Monaco:

Match-up 1-0 (+6.5 units) Mags passed Grosjean very early and was never in doubt
Race Winner 0-2 (-3.0 Units) Unbelievable, apparently Ricciardo was masterful as he lost power (7th gear) fairly early in the race but held off Vettel and Hamilton. Hats off!

Total (+3.5 Units) Took a risk with the winner plays but calculated and well worth it. A lesser driver would not have held.
